I’m Kahaia and just in case you’ve been wondering how to pronounce that I’ll spare you the headache:
KA-HI-YA (rhymes with papaya)
I’m an adventurous wedding + elopement photographer residing in Logan, Utah with my cute hubby, Jesse. We were married in 2015 in the dead of winter, my favorite season. I count my lucky stars each day to have someone as strong and caring as him. He has been my biggest cheerleader through this entire roller coaster of a photography business. He’s even letting me teach him to second shoot for me! So yeah he’s a keeper. I’m inspired by my own love story, so you can expect me to understand how much you value yours.
Being a professional third wheel is a challenge, it’s a responsibility, but mostly it’s a blessing. I’ve come to accept that at some point, I’m going to cry at your wedding. It’s inevitable. Probably when the bride walks down the aisle or during the daddy daughter dance. Or both. A few too many happy tears have been shed over the chance I get to be a part of the happiest day of a beautiful couple’s life. I’ve started to see people, hear their stories, feel their wedding jitters, and for that I’m grateful. My couples have no idea how much they mean to me.
Connection and relationships are at the heart of what I do. I want to leave our session as your friend, not just your photographer. In turn, you won’t be nervous in front of the camera, because I’m just one of your friends who happens to be shooting your wedding. You’ll be comfortable knowing that I’m just as weird and quirky as you guys are and there’s nothing you can do weird or wrong around me. I work hard to make you feel confident and beautiful in front of the camera.
